Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings
It is said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. But unless you earn a six-figure salary—or a partner who does. The cost of a diamond engagement ring can be hard to swallow. Many a groom to be has experience sticker shock when confronted with the price of the rock that his bride wants. Enter moissanite, a clear, shiny gemstone that a growing number of millennials are choosing over diamonds. We will try to explain why Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings are so popular now.
This Vintage Milgrain Halo Engagement Ring pays homage to the exquisite engagement rings created solely by hand in the early 1900’s. The stones in both the halo and band are accented with milgrain while the gallery beneath the center stone is artfully cut out with ballpark squares. There are two bands going around the shoulders for some additional decoration. It is shown with a 6.5mm center stone, but other sizes could be used. We have also created this Vintage Engagement Ring with an oval center stone.
Moissanite is a gemstone that originates from somewhere unknown in the cosmos. It was discovered in 1893 by French scientist Henri Moissan, who later won a Nobel Prize for Chemistry. In in a crater created by a meteorite that fell to Earth in Arizona, he discovered small particles of the gem that would later be named after him. He initially thought that he had found a diamond substance, but later determined that the crystals were composed of silicon carbide. Natural moissanite is incredibly rare, so the vast majority of Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings available today is grown in a lab. After years of trial and error, the particles Moissan discovered were successfully synthesized in a mass setting to produce what is now one of the world’s most fiery & popular gemstones.
This the East West version of one of our 3 Stone Oval Engagement Rings; and it is definitely simple and refined. Its uniqueness is that the stones are set horizontally rather than the typical vertical style. This one had an 8x6mm center stone and 2, 6x4mm ovals. Other sizes and stone combos are possible.
Moissanite is engineered to possess the look of a diamond, but is made of different molecules that are arranged differently and visually quite distinct from a real diamond. In fact, it requires a gemologist or special tester to discern the difference between a diamond and moissanite. The durability, brilliance, and color of the two gems are quite unique, although put a Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings next to one with a comparable diamond and they are very difficult to discern. One of the key differences between moissanite and diamonds is that moissanite stones reflect light in a different way to diamonds. Due to their faceting, moissanite gems create flashes of light that have a rainbow effect, whereas diamonds produce three types of light: brilliance, dispersion and scintillation.
This Split Shank Double Halo Engagement Ring gives you a look not seen in the big box stores. The double halo surrounds a cushion cut stone in this one, but any square or round shape will work. There are also around 1/3 of a carat on the sides of the knife edge shank.
For similar sizes, moissanite is dramatically lower in price than diamonds of they are man-made. Moissanite gems vary in price only based on size and the color grading of the stones. Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings offer you a way to get a stone that looks like a diamond, but costs far less.
As you can see, there are benefits other than cost to having a Moissanite Ring made, whether engagement or any other type. While CZ is a budget friendly diamond alternative, it fades and isn’t very durable. You can always tell an old CZ ring because the stones are all beat up. CZ gemstones are mass-produced, often cut by machine. And usually not very well cut. They are hard to the point of being brittle and do not hold color or clarity. Moissanite is very durable. However, the most attractive benefit to many is the eco friendly nature of a lab stone. There are no mines, no forced labor, and no warlords creating Moissanite. So you can feel good about buying it.
Showcase a beautiful stone with this 2 Tone Solitaire Ring! The shank in the elegant ring splits and loops around the prongs. It is shown in white and yellow Gold, but can always be cast in one metal.
Given the name moissanite after Henri Moissan who first discovered it back in 1893, it was the most brilliant gem stone the world has ever seen. But it wasn’t until the mid-90’s when two companies started to perfect the process of creating moissanite, that it was synthesized without a flaw and equated those few moissanite stones found in nature. Another 10 years go by and Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings are one of the most popular options around.
This is one of our Nature Inspired Engagement Rings that was made for bear lovers. The accent stones were set in a hybrid channel-prong setting, which isn’t our choice. But it wasn’t our choice! We make what is asked of us.
Moissanite, unlike other synthesized gems, does not only simulate diamond. It far surpasses it in many ways. Manufactured to the standards of the stones discovered close to the meteor crater, they sparkles with such fire and brilliance such that scientists use to say the stones were “born from the stars”.
We have created a quite a few Flower Engagement Rings, and with the floral tension setting, this one has become our most successful style of Flower Engagement Rings. This one has a 5mm center stone, but 4mm or a larger one could be used.
Possessing fire, brilliance, & luster that surpasses a diamond, Moissanite refracts light unlike any gemstone on earth. It is also engineered to never lose its optical properties and therefore will be every bit as beautiful 20, 30 or 100 years from the moment you buy it. Moissanite is known for its high refractive index(RI) of 2.65, which is notably higher than diamond, sapphire, CZ and other gemstones. Brilliance comes from the flashes of white light exiting the top gemstone. The higher the RI of a gemstone, the more brilliance the jewel emits. Moissanite’s superior RI makes Moissanite the most brilliant fine gemstone on earth.
This Art Deco Floral Hummingbird Ring is an homage to the antique art deco ring fabricated in the early 1900’s, but was requested with a hummingbird on it. This one has a 1/2 carat Asscher cut center stone and is accented by 6, 2mm stones. If you are a hummingbird lover, this is the ring for you.
Moissanite’s fire – the flashes of colored light – is far more impressive than diamond, possessing twice the fire. This is one of the reasons why Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings are so popular. As for clarity, all shapes and sizes are consistently high clarity, and only having minute inclusions throughout. When compared to diamonds for example, they fall in the VS clarity range. Another reason Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings are so popular is because of the high clarity these stones have. Luster is the amount of light that is reflected back to the observer, from the surface of the gemstone. In addition to superior fire and brilliance, Moissanite has 18% greater luster than a diamond and 50% greater luster than CZ.
One of many Custom Batman Engagement Rings we have created, this one has the bat going across the top. It is accented by 5 stones on either side of the center stone. This one was a bit large as it was for a man. It had a 5x7mm oval in the center with 2mm round accents. However, we could easily scale this down for a woman.
LAB GROWN MOISSANITE ORIGINS
Because they are grown in controlled environments, moissanites require no mining to manufacture. Their provenance is usually therefore traceable and entirely eco-friendly. This makes Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings very attractive to those concerned about ethically sourced stones. Compared with natural gemstones, synthetic Moissanites have a much smaller carbon footprint and result in less environmental impact. Custom Moissanite Engagement Rings made with eco-friendly metals are a perfect way to help the planet out while also saving some money.
